Apple Unveils new features, including AI partnership with ChatGPT at WWDC 2024

At its WWDC 2024, Apple announced several features, including its collaboration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.  

These features, expected later in 2024, promise several improvements with Siri (more conversational), the ability to generate images, and a comprehensive suite of AI features for its devices. Several AI features were mentioned throughout the event, which we believe gave rise to the clever name “Apple Intelligence”.  

What do we know about Apple Intelligence?   

Apple Intelligence, a unique offering from Apple, is designed to handle various tasks, from email writing and proofreading to generating creative images. It even assists in writing and solving math notes on the calculator app (a new feature coming to the iPad). 

Apple Intelligence will allow Siri to have on-screen awareness and take action on a user's behalf.

Clean Up was also announced.  

Apple also announced at the event that it was introducing a “Clean Up" feature for iPhones, which allows you to remove unwanted items from your photos.

Apple also announced it was introducing a new way to pay someone with another iPhone without a phone number or email.

Improved Siri Feature 

Apple announced that Siri is set to become more human in its conversations and tailor responses to individual needs. One example used during the event was getting specific information about the specific time a flight being tracked was expected to land.  

Finally, Apple announced it will gain access to OpenAI’s ChatGPT for complex questions beyond Siri’s current capabilities and noted that it will seek permission before tapping into ChatGPT in accordance with user privacy legislation.
